Voters and candidates mingle at the B.L. Perry Library

While it was unlikely the president would win Florida even before the debate, Florida Democrats have been hoping to use a strong top-of-the-ticket draw to turn the tides in several local races across the state.

Democratic organizers are galvanizing as Debbie Murcasel-Powell announced she's running for the U.S. Senate seat held by Republican Rick Scott.
