Scott promotes jobs bills on the road

Monday Florida Governor Rick Scott  held ceremonial bill signings for a jobs package he promoted during this year’s legislative session. James Call reports, the governor’s staff arranged ceremonies at north Florida business locations to promote what the governor says are the benefits the legislation will deliver to small businesses.

Scott likes the package which implements three tax cuts and re-names the state’s unemployment system as a reemployment   program so much that he signed it three times; last week in Tallahassee and again Monday in Jacksonville and Panama City.  Scott says the four bills further a job creation and economic growth agenda.

"Everything that we are doing is going to help families get back to work. If you think about my job, I have three jobs, step one make sure that children have an opportunity to get a great education, two make sure people can get back to work, this will help people get back to work, and three don’t allow state government to do anything to raise the cost of living."

The package spreads out nearly a billion-dollar in business tax cuts over three years. It also prevents a $50-dollar per-employee increase in the unemployment compensation tax from going into effect.
