Controversy over how education is taught in Florida's classrooms continues to grow. Governor Ron DeSantis signed two higher education bills this week targeting diversity, equity, and inclusion. Adrian Andrews has more on how these laws will impact college campuses for years to come.

When governor Ron DeSantis signed a raft of bills this week that opponents dubbed a “slate of hate,” he said the goal was to “let kids be kids.” But LGBTQ+ advocates say such legislation frequently creates limitations for adults too. Regan McCarthy has more.

Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed a package of bills aimed at combating human trafficking in Florida. As Margie Menzel reports, the bills will strengthen penalties for trafficking, increase training and support victims.

Governor Ron DeSantis has signed a new law making it easier to expel undocumented immigrants out of Florida. The law will also require companies to report their employees’ immigration status to the federal government. And the law makes it a criminal offense to transport 5 or more undocumented migrants — or even one undocumented minor — into Florida. For the first time in two decades, the Miami-Dade County public school district is growing. That’s due in large part to the historic number of students who have moved into the district this year from other countries. Schools that were under capacity for years are now seeing their classrooms fill up. WLRN’s Kate Payne shows us what that means for one school in Hialeah.
