Georgia elections officials are warning political activists to think twice before temporarily moving to their state to vote in the upcoming Senate runoff elections. Valerie Crowder reports Republicans in Bay County publicly floated that idea after President Trump’s election loss earlier this month.

Florida Democratic Party leaders are doing some self-reflection after Republicans flipped 3 seats in the State House during the 2020 election. The GOP now has a 77 to 43 advantage in that chamber. Over in the Senate, Republicans gained one seat. Blaise Gainey reports many Democrats are questioning how their party should move forward following the electoral disappointment.

In December, a program that has helped keep Florida food banks stocked will come to an end. That change comes at the same time experts worry food demand could increase yet again as coronavirus cases rise, potentially leading to more shutdowns, more business closures and more people out of work and unable to afford food. An appeals court in Tallahassee this week heard arguments in a mask mandate challenge that asserts the order steps on constitutional rights. Ryan Dailey reports an Alachua County man’s case had been rejected by lower courts.

The human trafficking of children continues in Florida. The Tallahassee Police Department recently announced more than 170 arrests stemming from a two-year long child human trafficking investigation. Florida has the 3rd highest incidence of reported trafficking cases in the United States. Robbie Gaffney tells us survivors and advocates are trying to ramp up public awareness of the crime.
