Capital Report: 2-5-2020

Lawmakers are considering a move to build more electric car charging stations on state highways. They’re also looking into a measure to pave the way for solar energy for schools. Robbie Gaffney has more.

Florida lawmakers say people shouldn’t be evicted from their homes right before a major storm hits. And as Regan McCarthy reports, now they’re working to do something about it.

Capital reporters Ryan Dailey and Blaise Gainey have been following the action as the Florida House and Senate start hammering out their respective budget plans. 

Republican state Representative Amber Marino wants to mandate electronic prescribing for physicians. Her bill would only allow written prescriptions to be used in cases of system outages or in free health clinics. Audriana Thomas reports.

A lethal new coral disease has now traveled across the Florida reef tract and into the Caribbean and Mexico. As WLRN’s Jenny Staletovich (stuh-LET-o-vich) reports, reef scientists believe they may be zeroing in on one of the culprits causing its spread.
