Florida State University’s star quarterback Jameis Winston has been suspended from the first half  of Saturday’s football game against Clemson. Winston apologized Wednesday for yelling obscenities.

On Tuesday FSU students tweeted that Winston had shouted a vulgar phrase about women while standing on a table in the student union. The phrase comes from an internet meme inspired by a video of a man interrupting a live news broadcast and yelling the words. At a press conference Wednesday Winston addressed his actions.

“I just want to apologize to the university, to my coaches, and to my teammates," Winston says. "I’m not a ‘me’ person, but in that situation that was a selfish act and that’s not how you do things around here. And I really want to apologize to my teammates, because I have now made a selfish act for them.”

Winston is suspended for the first half of the Seminoles’ game against the Clemson Tigers.

Winston's actions come as FSU remains under investigation by the U.S. Department of Education for its handling of sexual assault allegations against Winston by a female student.
