Wakulla County officials have approved a resolution that will allow for county pick up of Hurricane Michael debris from private roads, beginning as soon as possible.
Although the county does not usually offer debris removal on private property, county administrators voted to approve the resolution on Thursday in order to help the community recover.
The county recommends residents get their debris out as soon as possible, and it reminds residents to separate the debris into piles for vegetative, construction and demolition, appliances, and electronics. Property owners, or Home Owners Associations, will need to sign legal agreements granting county contractors access to private roads. Those agreements can be found at the county public works administration office, or online at www.myWakulla.com.
