The City of Tallahassee is opening sandbag locations in anticipation of another weekend of thunderstorms.

Last weekend parts of Tallahassee got up to 8 inches of rain as a cold front moved through the area. With at least another inch expected this weekend, the city is preparing for some flooding.

Beginning Thursday at 8 a.m., sandbags will be available at James Messer Park South, located at 2830 Jackson Bluff Rd., and Winthrop Park, located at 1601 Mitchell Ave.

Residents will have to bring their own shovels and fill the sandbags themselves. There’s a 25 bag limit per household.

Crews will monitor flooding throughout the weekend. Residents can report flooded streets by calling (850) 891-4968.
