State officials are taking applications for a newly vacated seat on the Public Service Commission.
Florida Governor Rick Scott has appointed Jimmy Patronis to serve as the state’s Chief Financial Officer. But as Patronis takes the promotion, he leaves behind a seat on the Public Service Commission—a board charged with regulating power, water and telecom utilities.
Filling vacancies starts with a twelve member nominating council. They’ll whittle applicants down to a handful of candidates and then submit their picks to the governor for selection. Commissioner salaries weigh in at slightly more than $130,000 a year. The council is accepting applications until 5 in the evening July 28.
