Tuesday the Florida Senate met to vote for the third time on proposed bills. But the Senators spent most of their time in the Chamber not debating the bills but remembering and honoring the men and women who served the state.

Resolutions passed Tuesday make March Women’s History Month and March 30 Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day. Senators thanked several visiting military personal along with Senator Gwen Margolis for their service. But, not everyone receiving thanks was there to receive them. Sen. Dwight Bullard (D-Miami) asked for a moment of silence for his mother, former Sen. Larcenia Bullard (D-Miami), who died Saturday.

“Many of us discovered service. My mother was born into it. Her love was expressed not only in words but in action. She walked the halls smiling, hugging, speaking to everyone. Her place in history is set,” Senator Bullard said.

Bullard asked all his colleagues to love the people of Florida through their policy like his mother did.
