A key lawmaker is promising to take action after regulators approved an estimated 500 million-dollar hike in workers compensation rates.
However, Senate Republican Leader Bill Galvano of Bradenton warns lawmakers had a major battle when they overhauled the system for paying injured workers `in 2003.
“When we brought this issue to a head, there were a lot of competing interests. It’s not something that’s done easily, there are important aspects on all sides of the equation.”
Galvano made his remarks at a Florida Chamber of Commerce economic forum in Orlando that also feature Governor Rick Scott as a keynote speaker.
