Florida's Cabinet interviewed Jim Zingale to be the next potential leader for the state’s Department of Revenue. Zingale said the department needs to be conscious of the reasons businesses have overdue tax payments.

“The Department of Revenue needs to not think they are a computer just cranking out delinquency notices, over in your area, when the hurricane hit, I hope, I wasn’t over there, I really hope when businesses ran out of business they weren’t flooded with delinquency notices for the next three months after they were out of business,” Zingale said.

Zingale led the department for seven years before leaving to go into private business. The final vote to appoint Zingale as revenue chief will be done at a later date.
