Urban Tallahassee

National Night Out takes place this Tuesday. This year, two Tallahassee neighborhoods will be celebrating.

The national night out is meant to bring neighbors and emergency responders together in an effort to increase community safety. Officer Damon Miller Jr. is a spokesman for the TPD.

“It’s just really just strengthening the neighborhood and the overall spirit that they have and it really just makes us feel better that, hey, the only time you’re going to see us isn’t just when something bad is happening,” Miller says.

Miller says officers will also be recruiting people to participate in community safety programs and talking about home and business security. The East Gate and Meadows Neighborhoods will be holding events Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00.
