There are around 11,000 species of birds worldwide and a surprising number of these species can be found in North Florida and South Georgia. That’s what makes this area a paradise for birders, many of whom come from all over the world. At the same time, a healthy bird population is critical to the health of the ecology as a whole. To talk about it are: Former Leon County Commissioner, member of Sustainable Tallahassee, Apalachee Audubon Society member and world traveler Bob Henderson; Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Information Specialist Andy Wraithmell; and Jim Cox, director of the Stoddard Bird Lab at Tall Timbers Research Station.
