The South Monroe, or “SOMO” corridor has added another business: Lucky Goat Coffee. The shop's new, South Adams Street location represents a partnership between two coffee connoisseurs: Lucky Goat and Catalina Café.
Lucky Goat now joins the likes of Happy Motoring, Vale Foods, and Proof Brewing Company. The coffee company is a tenant in the building owned by Maurice Moulton and his wife, Patricia Allaire. They initially wanted the building—the old Graphateria—to be a roaster and training lab with RedEye Coffee, but the arrangement didn’t work out. The two coffee companies ended their business with one another and Catalina began a relationship with Lucky Goat.
“Now that we’re together, it’s been great. It’s been fantastic. Ben’s been great, the team here at Lucky Goat has been great," says Moulton.
Ben Pautsch is the owner of Lucky Goat and the South Adams street shop marks the fifth one for the growing company. Moulton and Allaire still own the space and have plans to expand. Their goal is to make the area a “thriving corner” with Allaire focusing on new partnerships and ways to enhance the building.
“We’re definitely excited to be part of that whole south area there, and revitalizing that area to be fresh and brand new," says Moulton.
Catalina Café now even serves Lucky Goat coffee at its Gaines Street location.
