New Artisanal Map To Guide Capital City Visitors

Tom Flanigan

Visitors who come to Tallahassee through the city’s international airport have a new visual guide to the area’s major landmarks.

City Aviation Director Chris Curry says the whimsical representation of the city’s most interesting attractions will be placed near the new information booth in the main terminal.

“This map will provide a snapshot of the community, displayed in a colorful and meaningful way some of the highlights people can expect to see when they leave the airport,” he said during Thursday’s (7/28) media event at the airport.

Those things, says City Commissioner Scott Maddox, go beyond the best-known destinations around town.

“Think how many people come in just to go to the Capitol; just to go to one small place,” he said. “Yet we all know as Tallahasseeans, that our city has so much more to offer.”

The new artisanal map, created by former city resident Max Pepper, is also available in small paper copies and online. This is part of the See-Tallahassee project begun last year under the sponsorship of the Knight Creative Communities Institute.
