Margaritaville Maestro No Fan Of Amendment 1

Florida troubadour Jimmy Buffett is coming out against Amendment 1, the utility-backed solar-power initiative.

Buffett is famous for glamorizing a laidback, boozy, Florida lifestyle, but in a You Tube video, he combs over an absentee ballot like a political activist.

“We’ve been enjoying the sun for most of our lives living in Florida. Now it’s time to use it right and use it for everyone’s benefit. That is why…..I am voting ‘No’ on One.”

Buffett’s video comes as backers distance themselves from statements by a conservative think-tank strategist who described the Amendment 1 campaign as political “jujitsu.” Critics condemn Amendment 1 as a back-door attempt to raise utility rates for solar users.
