If Asked, Scott Would Decline Trump Cabinet Seat

Gov. Rick Scott is suing the federal government over Low-Income Pool funding.

Florida Governor Rick Scott says he will not be joining the administration of president-elect Donald Trump. Instead, Scott plans to finish out his term in the state capitol.

No formal offer has been made, but if it were, Rick Scott says he would pass on a cabinet post under Donald Trump. But the term-limited Republican Governor says he’s excited to have a partner in the White House and will support Trump anyway he can.

“Think about what I have the opportunity to do: we have the opportunity to get more people a job, improve education every day, make this place a safe state. I’ll do anything I can to help president-elect Donald Trump to be successful, but I like this job and I want to finish this job,” Scott said.

Scott is quick to compare his own unlikely rise in 2010 to that of the 45th president. Both are wealthy political outsiders who flouted Republican leadership to win executive office with the help of anti-establishment voters, despite no political experience.

“Trump prevailed like we were able to back in 2010 because we focused on what Americans care about.  They care about jobs. They care about making this country great again,” he said.

Scott hopes one of President Trump’s first actions will be to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
