North Florida Congresswoman Gwen Graham is asking federal officials to expand President Barack Obama’s disaster declaration for Florida counties affected by Hurricane Hermine.
Wednesday, President Obama issued a major disaster declaration in Florida, and federal funds were made available for individuals in seven counties—including Leon.
But, U.S. Rep. Graham (D-FL) says she feels a few counties were left out: Franklin, Taylor, and Wakulla. And, she hopes the Federal Emergency Management agency expedites her request.
Currently, those counties are eligible to get money for their governments and non-profit organizations.
FEMA has said they are continuing to assess the damage and more counties may be added to the declaration.
