Gillum Gives Gubernatorial Run ‘Serious Consideration’

City of Tallahassee

Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum says he’s “seriously considering” a run for governor. Gillum released a video on his Twitter feed Friday morning.

I'm strongly considering a run for Governor and I want you involved in this conversation about moving Florida forward. pic.twitter.com/roXwWqyqQW — Andrew Gillum (@AndrewGillum) February 24, 2017

“For the last 20 years we’ve all watched our state shrink from the challenges that confront it. I’m hoping that we can begin the work to put this state on the path to representing people, every day people in this state who need an opportunity and a shot,” Gillum says in his video.

Other potential Democratic contenders for the seat include John Morgan of the Morgan and Morgan law firm, Congresswoman Gwen Graham, Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine and Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn. House Speaker Richard Corcoran, Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam and Senator Jack Latvala are among Republicans rumored to be considering a bid for the job.
