Former Correctional Officer Arrested For Battery On Inmate, Falsifying Records

Suwannee County Sheriff's office

A former Suwannee Correctional officer is the latest arrest within the Florida Department of Corrections for using excessive force on an inmate.

Ricky Wilson is facing charges of aggravated battery and falsification of official records for battering and injuring an inmate without any justification back in January and falsely reporting it.

Wilson resigned his post earlier this month, before the end of a preliminary investigation.

Not much more is known, since the affidavit explaining the situation is heavily redacted. The prison agency cites not wanting to disclose or reveal important records, personal information, and department procedures and techniques as reasons for the redaction.

Meanwhile, two other Suwannee Correctional officers were also arrested on similar charges last month.
