Governor Rick Scott is touting the latest figures showing 23 thousand new jobs created last month. The September unemployment rate remained unchanged at 4.7 percent, the lowest since 2007.
Department of Economic Opportunity's Cissy Proctor says Florida's job growth rate is far better than the nation.
The biggest gains came in education, health and leisure, but they weren’t the only growth sectors, says Department of Economic Opportunity executive director Cissy Proctor.
“As well as professional business services, which are jobs that traditionally require a college degree. So a lot of times, those will demand a higher wage.”
Florida’s 3.6 percent annual job growth rate is well above the national rate of 1.9 percent. Scott is taking credit for an economy that created 1.2 million private-sector jobs since 2010.
