Florida House Speaker Richard Corcoran says he supports a special session on medical marijuana.

The speaker spoke on “The Morning Show with Preston Scott” on WFLA-FM.

Lawmakers couldn’t agree on how many cannabis dispensaries a medical marijuana treatment center could operate. Corcoran says the legislature shouldn’t leave it up to the state to write the new rules.

“When you have 71 percent of the voters say that we want legalized medical marijuana and the fact that we couldn’t get it done and to just leave it to bureaucrats sitting in the Department of Health would be a gross injustice,” he said.

Senate President Joe Negron also called for a special session on medical cannabis. Democratic gubernatorial candidate Gwen Graham and attorney John Morgan also want a special session to address it.
