Governor Rick Scott and the Florida Cabinet will get a final report about the now-closed Dozier School for Boys during Thursday morning’s meeting.
Lead University of South Florida Researcher Erin Kimmerle is expected to present the final report. She’s been leading a team of researchers to find and identify the remains of boys believed to have died and were buried on the Marianna property due to the alleged abused at the former reform school.
Researchers released the report a bit early, announcing two more sets of remains of white males have been identified using DNA.
During a September meeting, Cabinet members started discussing next steps, like what should be done about the historical resources and records, archives, and state monuments associated with the property.
