FAMU Shakes Up Sports Leadership

Tallahassee, FL – Tuesday the university announced that those rumors are true. Dr. James Ammons, FAMU's president, announced the changes in the athletics department at a press conference.

The university has launched a nation-wide search to replace Townsend and Carter. Ammons wants the positions filled by the end of the year. In the meantime, Allen Bogan, a 30-year vet of the coaching staff, will serve as interim director of Athletics. Ammons says the decision to let Townsend and Carter go was made through careful evaluation of the athletics program.

Carter still has two years remaining on his contract.

Beside Townsend and Carter, Carter's coaching staff is also out the door. For WFSU-FM, I'm Lynn Hatter.
