Florida A&M University President Elmira Mangum will have to submit monthly progress reports and have a midterm evaluation under a plan approved by her board Thursday.
FAMU’s board finalized Mangum’s first evaluation Thursday and says the president did not meet expectations in four of 10 categories. Much of that criticism focuses on hiring decisions and a lack of communication trustees say between the President and the Board. Now members are requiring Mangum to submit a monthly progress report, that trustee Betty Grable says needs to be documented.
“In the monthly reports would it be possible or the President Mangum To include data, comparative trends and any other types of supporting documentation?” she asked.
Tension between Mangum and her board erupted in June, leading some state lawmakers who are also alumni to ask the state university governing board to intervene. FAMU board of trustees meet in November, where Mangum will have an informal review.
