Caribe Fest Celebration brings Island Flavor to Railroad Square

Tom Flanigan

The southern edge of Tallahassee's Railroad Square took on a distinctively Caribbean vibe on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 9-10. The celebration included music, food and island crafts.

The Caribe Fest featured a parade led by the Bahamian rhythms of Junkanoo Near You from Orlando, made up of FAMU alums. Other musical performances during the two-day included the Disciples of Music, the FAMU Latin Jazz Ensemble, and the Johnson Twins from St. Maarten. The free festival was hosted by the Cross-Cultural Coalition of the South Side, the Community Redevelopment Agency and the City of Tallahassee among other sponsors.
