A committee bill in the Florida House looks to move the state Office of Energy out from under its current agency. Ryan Dailey reports Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried is calling it a “power grab” by Republicans.

Disability rights advocates say a plan to revamp the way the state’s disabilities agency administers a key program marks a step in the right direction. Florida Republican Senator Aaron Bean has taken the lead on changes to the Agency for Persons with Disabilities in an attempt to stop decades of budget deficits. Lynn Hatter reports while his plan isn’t perfect, advocates say it’s better than where he started.

A proposal banning local government from regulating worker conditions is moving through the legislature. But opponents worry the bill could have unintended consequences. Robbie Gaffney has more.

Fifteen months. That’s how long it’s been since Hurricane Michael upended the lives of many Floridians living in the panhandle. For some of them, not much has changed since.
