Capital Report: 05-29-2015

Governor Rick Scott recently gave the nod to several priorities of the state’s first-responder unions.  Now, as Sascha Cordner reports, those unions are speaking out on what they’d like lawmakers to include in the still-to-be-considered state budget.

With the start of the Atlantic hurricane season looming, Floridians are preparing to weather any potential storms. And Regan McCarthy reports, this year those preparations involve some new technology.

When a group of environmentalists, Tea Party activists and Christian conservatives got together to launch a solar power ballot initiative, they were immediately dubbed “Green Tea.” But as Jim Ash reports, the religious corner of their big tent is beginning to fray.

North Florida Congresswoman Gwen Graham was out on Apalachicola Bay earlier this week to raise awareness for a new piece of legislation.  Nick Evans reports Graham is hoping to settle a fight over freshwater that has bedeviled the Bay and its oyster industry for decades.
