The Florida Senate has passed its marquee school choice bill, SB 7070. Ryan Dailey reports the controversial measure that creates a new voucher program narrowly got by on a party-line vote.

A number of lawmakers support at least one provision of the controversial Senate Bill 7070, which passed the Florida Senate today (Thursday) without many Democratic votes. The measure made it to the House and Senate floors on the strength of their Republican majorities. But as Margie Menzel reports, the bipartisan sweetener was a provision supporting Florida's community partnership schools, which have impressed both sides of the aisle.  

Complaints about incarcerated women being denied basic hygiene products like pads and tampons has caught the attention of state lawmakers. Now Florida is poised to approve a bill making those products and others available to women at no cost.

A draft version of a gambling compact between the state and the Seminole Indian Tribe is being scrutinized by the governor and his staff.

The News Service of Florida reports a deal was reached after weeks of negotiations, and legislative leaders are also taking a look at the agreement.
