The Florida House and Senate are 4-billion dollars apart on their proposed spending plans and as Keta Browning Reports, Medicaid remains the biggest sticking point—with the Senate relying on federal funds for its proposed 80-billion dollar budget.

Both chambers of the Florida Legislature laid out their criminal justice budgets Wednesday. Sascha Cordner reports the House and Senate spending plans are similar—driven by a goal of helping Florida’s troubled prison system.

Florida Forever could become Florida Never if Republicans have their way. As Jim Ash reports, that’s how critics are describing paltry spending proposals in the House and Senate for what was once the nation’s largest wilderness preservation programs.

When lawmakers created new rules to crack down on illegal gaming operations, such as Internet cafes, they also created a legal grey area for arcades. Regan McCarthy reports now lawmakers are looking to clear that up through legislation clarifying what types of electronic games are allowed.
