The Eighth Annual Pat Ramsey Tribute to benefit Big Bend Hospice happened Saturday at Tallahassee's Bradfordville Blues Club.
More than a dozen Tallahassee band paid their respects to a true musical legend while supporting a good local cause. There are portraits of famous musicians throughout the Bradfordville Blues Club and owner Gary Anton says many of them still owe Pat Ramsey a debt of gratitude.
"Pat was a monster!" Anton exclaimed as he and the club staff put the finishing touches on preparations for Saturday's musical marathon from early afternoon until midnight. "There are so many people on these walls that he mentored and it's amazing when they come in and say, 'Pat mentored me!'"
Among the dozens of musicians come to play and pay homage on Saturday, drummer Mike Stone.
"People that he fostered that are now substantial players in their own right just leave that credence," Stone said. "And that's why we come here today to honor him and also support a very good cause, which is Big Bend Hospice."
Pat Ramsey, a true legend of blues harmonica, called Tallahassee home from 1978 until 1991. He died eight years ago this month.
