The owner of Downtown Tallahassee’s Avenue Eat & Drink restaurant is about to launch a new three-in-one business in Midtown. The restaurant, dessert bar and music venue are set to open where Mockingbird restaurant closed earlier this year.

Avenue owner Chris Clark is putting the finishing touches on renovations of the former Mockingbird restaurant and lounge on North Monroe Street.

The restaurant's marketing director, Ann Howard, says, “Chris Clark, who owns the location, is a perfectionist, and he’s not going to open the doors until he’s absolutely positive every person who walks through the doors is going to get the exact experience that he wants everyone to have.”

She says the main attraction is a restaurant and bar named Zin; that’s short for Zinfandel. American food and beverages will be on the menu. Next door will be a dessert bar called Sin. And taking the place of the former Out of the Attic Antiques shop next door, Clark plans to open a music venue called The Note.

“We have a location where folks can do pre-drinks, they can do dinner, they can do dessert, and then they can walk a few feet and go enjoy live music," Howard says.

Zin is expected to open the third weekend in October with Sin following a few weeks later.
