Argentines in Miami Cheer Selection Of New Pope

MIAMI (AP) - Argentines in Miami are celebrating the selection of Pope Francis from Buenos Aires.

At the Buenos Aires Bakery & Cafe in Miami Beach, Argentines drinking their afternoon coffee on Wednesday broke into cheers and applause as the new pope was announced.

"Long live Argentina!" some shouted. "God is Argentina!" cried others.
 
Miami Beach has the largest concentration of Argentines in the United States. South Florida is also a popular destination for Argentine tourists.
 
Miami Archbishop Thomas Wenski hailed the selection of former Argentine Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio as a "great thing for the United States and Latin America."
 
Pope Francis is the first pontiff from the Americas.
