William H. “Bill” Green, Ph.D. | Research Professor | Physics Department | Florida State University This talk will review our current understanding of the history and fate of the Universe, and will include discussion of some key current questions such as: How far back in time do we know what went on?; What is the evidence for Dark Matter and Dark Energy? What can Gravity Waves tell us?; and, Does the Universe hold any major surprises? After earning a PhD in Physical Chemistry at the University of South Carolina, Bill was awarded a NAS/NRC Fellowship at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C., where he became a Research Scientist studying chemical lasers and molecular energy transfer processes. Bill earned a law degree at Georgetown and returned to his native Florida and in 1979 co-founded Hopping Green & Sams, P.A. in Tallahassee. The next thirty years, he studied cosmology via sabbaticals at the University of Cambridge, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory/the University of California–Berkeley, and advanced study institutes. Bill joined the FSU Astrophysics Group 2010.
