Former Tallahassee City Manager Rick Fernandez was forced to resign in January, and the fallout from the ethics case against him is spreading.

Fernandez is accused of ethical violations involving the acceptance of free FSU football tickets and a big catering discount from the city-backed Edison restaurant.

Local businessman and City Hall critic Erwin Jackson has updated his existing complaint against Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum with the Florida Commission on Ethics. Jackson’s amended complaint is regarding a trip Gillum took to Costa Rica with two city lobbyists, Adam Corey and Sean Pittman.

Florida’s Ethics Commission says former Tallahassee city manager Rick Fernandez misused his position to get a catering discount from a local restaurant and obtain football tickets from a lobbyist.

Tallahassee City Manager Rick Fernandez will resign today while facing ethics complaints over his relationships with lobbyists and vendors.

The city of Tallahassee is reviewing its policy for tracking and archiving text messages sent by city officials. Mayor Andrew Gillum says part of the change will involve an increased expense for the city.

The Tallahassee City Commission voted last night to have the city post online all public records that have been provided to a federal grand jury investigating alleged public corruption. And in a separate case, city manager Rick Fernandez is taking paid temporary leave as an ethics complaint against him moves forward.

The Tallahassee ethics board will send a letter to the city commission warning about the appearance of impropriety. The decision comes after ethics board staffers conducted a limited investigation into accusations made against City Manager Rick Fernandez. Board member Bruce Grant made the motion.
