Representatives from the Florida House had tough questions for budget leaders Thursday about decisions made in the spending plan.

The Florida Lottery is undergoing a rebranding change as part of a celebration to mark its 25th anniversary.

“This Saturday, January 12th will mark 25 years since the first lottery ticket went on sale,” said Florida Lottery Secretary Cynthia O' Connell.

The state university system wants a $118 million  increase in state funding for Florida’s public universities. The schools say they’re willing to forgo another tuition increase if lawmakers appropriate the money.

The shortfall within the trust fund that supports public school construction projects is so great, that Governor Rick Scott has called on school districts, colleges and universities to give back unspent money from previous years. But as Lynn Hatter reports, there’s a plan afoot in the Florida legislature that could help shore up the fund, and create a dedicated funding source for future building plans.
