Irish Farmers Protest EU Budget Cuts

The largest farmer’s demonstration in more than 15 years is putting pressure on agricultural officials in
Ireland to stay clear of proposed European Union funding cuts. More than 20,000 farmers gathered in Dublin to protest reforms to the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy.

Streets around Leinster House and other government buildings were closed as farmers marched through
the city.

An amateur film made in the U.S. on Islam sparked violent protests halfway around the world. We ask experts what that could mean in the state of Florida, the United States and the rest of the world.

Pro-gay rights supporters are having some issues with Chick-fil-A. The company donates money to donate to anti-gay organizations. And that stance is drawing fire from gay rights advocates. Protesters focused on the restaurants’ Cow Appreciation Day, where dressing like bovine nets you a free meal. Pro-gay rights protesters like Fran Sullivan-Fahs saw the crowd as a prime opportunity to let the public know what they thought of the company.

Members of the Occupy Florida movement are making their voices heard in Tallahassee. The local group has been living in a camp at the site of the former John’s building about a block from the statehouse. The Tallahassee movement was joined by members from 15 groups across the state on the legislative session’s opening day. Regan McCarthy reports More than 50 Occupy organizers marched and chanted through the halls of the state’s capitol building holding signs reading “I’m not a dirty hippie” and “People over” Profit.
