House committee closer to deciding new voter maps

The House Redistricting Committee is moving closer to choosing new congressional and state house maps. James Call reports Friday, lawmakers held a three hour workshop on proposals and the committee chairman says he intends to bring a plan to the full House in two weeks.

Senate, House split over whether to regulate or ban internet cafes

A Senate Committee Thursday voted to regulate Internet Cafes instead of shutting them down.  James Call reports the move dealt a blow to critics of the so-called sweepstakes operations who say they are nothing more than strip-plaza casinos.

Capital Report Rundown:

Tuesday, a Florida House subcommittee passed a bill that would shift control of reclaimed water away from water management districts and into the hands of utilities.  As Janelle Irwin from member station WMNF in Tampa reports, even though the 12 to 2 vote shows support from representatives, not everyone thinks it’s a good idea.
