Governor Rick Scott and Democratic Challenger Charlie Crist met Tuesday evening for the third time in a debate leading up to the November Fourth Election. There were no electric fans this time around, but the atmosphere between the two candidates was downright chilly.

Florida Faces Ridicule As 'FanGate' Jokes Go National

The second of three Florida gubernatorial debates happened this week, but most of the attention is being paid to a spat over an electric fan.  Some pundits are calling it one of the most bizarre moments in recent Florida political history.

It started off with these words:

“We have been told Governor Rick Scott will not be participating in this debate," said CBS4’s Eliott Rodriguez, who attempted to viewers and listeners of the Florida Press Association/Leadership Florida debate why there was only one candidate onstage: Charlie Crist.

Debate Organizers: Presence Of Fan For Crist Broke The Rules

The presence of an electric fan onstage during Wednesday’s second gubernatorial debate caused an uproar when Governor Rick Scott initially refused to debate Crist over the presence of the oscillator.

Debate organizers say the presence of electronic devices, including fans, was not allowed.   A handwritten note added to the debate contract by the Crist camp requesting the fan’s presence," with the understanding that debate hosts will address any temperature issues with a fan if necessary," was not approved.

Congressional Hopeful Graham Touts Federal Transparency 'Sunshine Plan'

Florida District Two Democratic congressional candidate Gwen Graham says if elected, she will be open about her dealings in Washington. Graham rolled out her so-called “Sunshine Plan” Wednesday.

The Graham Sunshine Plan revolves around providing insight into schedules and government meetings. It says she’d also vote for stricter disclosure of special interest money in campaigns and against congressional perks funded by taxes. Graham says she thinks elected officials should be compelled to keep the public informed.
