With only one committee hearing, a bill seeking to regulate Florida’s pregnancy crisis centers is now heading to the House floor. But, pro-choice advocates are not happy about a provision that directs the state to only contract with providers that “promote and support childbirth.”

It’s good news to Florida’s Congressional Delegation and Governor Rick Scott that Congress could be close to striking a deal on funding efforts to combat the Zika virus. Florida just passed the 800 mark for the amount of cases reported to health officials. But, Florida leaders are a bit split on how that funding should be accomplished.

A wide ranging abortion measure will remain on hold after a teleconference Thursday.  A federal judge put the law on hold in June, and is still deliberating whether it should be thrown out. 

A federal judge has blocked parts of a controversial Florida abortion law.  U.S. District Judge Robert Hinkle, issued a 25-page ruling right before the law was set to go into effect.

With the U.S. Supreme Court striking down Texas abortion restrictions, attention is turning to Florida where a similar measure is set to take effect Friday.  The law’s backers are confident their legislation will survive a court challenge of its own.

Florida lawmakers have approved an expansive bill that could further restrict abortions in the state. The measure in an outgrowth of a larger battle over abortion that flared up this past summer, after several heavily-altered and now discredited videos claimed to show Planned Parenthood officials discussing the sale of fetal remains.

The House and Senate gave tentative approval Thursday to competing spending plans that hover around $80 billion. Republicans touted tax cuts while Democrats railed against budget cuts.

The Florida Legislature is moving forward with a bill that could restrict abortion access. But similar measures have been struck down in other states.

A Conservative Florida group wants Governor Rick Scott to de-fund the state’s planned parenthood clinics. Florida Family Policy Council President John Stemberger says Governor Rick Scott isn’t a true conservative if he allows state dollars to continue flowing to planned parenthood.

An investigation by Politico Florida shows Governor Rick Scott’s administration altered a statement to falsely claim one planned parenthood facility failed to properly log fetal remains. In early August, the Agency for Healthcare Administration released a report accusing four clinics of wrongdoing.

The fight between Florida’s Agency for Healthcare Administration and Planned Parenthood ramped up this week with a lawsuit.  The state says three planned parenthood Florida clinics admit to performed abortions outside the scope of their licenses, but the clinics insist they did nothing wrong.

Florida’s healthcare agency is doubling down on claims three Southwest Florida planned parenthood offices performed unlicensed abortions. The moves comes a day after lawyers for the Agency for Healthcare Administration seemed to back down from that assertion.

Planned Parenthood Florida is asking a judge to block the state from imposing any penalties on three abortion clinics in Southwest Florida. The group says the state is incorrect in its assertion the clinics performed abortions beyond their licenses.

Planned Parenthood Florida says it’s not done anything wrong, and is accusing the state Agency for Healthcare Administration of flip-flopping on the rules regarding abortions.  The issue could be heading to an administrative law court.
