Gadsden County Sheriff Morris Young is dropping his appeal of indirect contempt of court charge.  The legal wrangling stem from Young’s decision to let some offenders out of jail on furloughs.

Gadsden County community leaders say they want Sheriff Morris Young to remain in office. Nearly 200 people came out Tuesday afternoon for a press conference in support of the sheriff.

Gadsden County Sheriff Morris Young says charges against him should be dismissed. It's the latest between the Sheriff and State Attorney Willie Meggs over who has the authority to grant temporary releases to jail inmates.

Gadsden County Sheriff Morris Young was set to appear in court Friday to respond to claims he let prisoners out of jail without permission for short periods of time to visit family and girlfriends. But that appearance has been postponed. Lynn Hatter spoke with longtime Gadsden reporter Byron Spires about the latest in the case.
