One shelter remains open in Leon County. Officials say they’re keeping the space available for anyone who might not be able to return home yet, as well as anyone who gets stuck on their way. Leon County spokesman Mathieu Cavell says some of those returning home could get stopped on their way by a possible bridge closure along I-75.

Talquin Electric is hoping to have power restored by Thursday night for its members.  The cooperative serves people in Gadsden, Leon, Liberty and Wakulla counties.

Florida’s capital dodged the most destructive impacts of Irma, allowing now city and county operations to begin returning to normal.

Starting Tuesday, Wakulla County residents who want to get rid of waste and debris related to Irma can now bring them to their local landfill.

With Leon County’s storm recovery well underway, the county’s Sheriff’s Department has sent help to a far more storm-tossed area to the south. While Tropical Storm Irma did not leave the Capital Region unscathed, Leon County Sheriff Walt McNeil pointed out the situation was far more serious elsewhere.

Leon County officials have repealed a curfew put in place to keep motorists safe before and after Hurricane Irma.

A Tuesday update showed several Leon County roads remained closed due to downed trees. While officials say crews are actively working to clear all roadways, County Administrator Vince Long explains there’s a reason some may take longer than others.

Hurricane Irma blasted the Florida Keys early Sunday morning with Category 4 winds and driving rain, and Governor Rick Scott is warning Floridians to heed the deadly threat.

Irma is expected to bring hurricane force winds and flooding to the Big Bend area sometime after 6 p.m., with winds lasting through early Monday morning. Officials predicted a storm surge in Northwest Florida of between 4 and 6 feet.
