Florida’s election supervisors are feeling the squeeze of a short deadline to submit an application for $19 million in federal cybersecurity funding. The applications are due to the Department of State by next Wednesday.

Most Florida counties are reporting a smooth and steady early voting and absentee turnout so far.

According to Duval County Supervisor of Elections Jerry Holland, more than a million Floridians have voted ahead of the November 4th general election. He also heads the Florida State Association of Supervisor of Elections.

The August 26th primary may be a few weeks away, but Duval County elections supervisor and Florida State Association of Supervisor of Elections President Jerry Holland says it’s important residents start preparing now.

As the state looks to renew its effort to remove non U.S. citizens from Florida’s voter rolls, Secretary of State Ken Detzner will be traveling the state next month to get input from local supervisor of elections. But, some say they're skeptical about the plan.

Between long lines at several Florida polling locations, delayed ballot counts, and late results, Florida has been called “embarrassing” and has become the butt of many election jokes. The Governor and state election officials are now looking into what could be done to improve the state’s elections process, but some say that’s not enough.

Talks over Florida’s election process have started between the state’s top election official and county supervisors. And, both sides say there’s still more work to do.

The Governor recently tasked Florida Department of State head Ken Detzner to meet with county elections supervisors. And, Ron Labasky with the Florida State Association of Supervisors says their discussion so far has been open and cordial.
