Construction for Tallahassee’s first solar power plant is underway. Not everyone in Tallahassee can install their own rooftop solar panels, whether they want to or not. But Mayor Andrew Gillum says residents will soon have another option, because of the city’s new 20 megawatt community solar farm.

The City of Tallahassee is beginning budget talks for the coming fiscal year. Commissioners want to contrast their spending process with that of state lawmakers, which primarily took place behind closed doors. The board wants to continue investing in infrastructure and public safety. Mayor Andrew Gillum says that could come in the form of social services.

The city of Tallahassee’s moratorium blocking new medical cannabis dispensaries ends this month. The city is poised to adopt new zoning rules for dispensaries. Leon County Commissioners approved zoning requirements Tuesday.

Early voting in Leon County begins Monday and runs through Sunday November 6th. Any registered voter may cast their ballot at seven different locations throughout Tallahassee, including the county courthouse, and at various public library branches. Leon County Supervisor of Elections Ion Sancho says residents can find more information in their voting guide.
