Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum says he’ll fully cooperate with an FBI investigation of a series of businesses and developers with ties to City Hall.

Mayor Gillum says the FBI approached him days ago about its probe into a number of redevelopment deals in the city. Gillum says he was assured he is not the focus of the investigation.

Tallahassee City Commissioners are considering employee pay raises and employee cost increases as part of their spending plan for the upcoming budget year.

Tallahassee residents won’t see an increase in their property tax rate next year. City Commissioners voted during a budget workshop Wednesday to keep the current rate in place. Commissioner Curtis Richardson says that’s the plan commissioners had in mind when they reduced the rate during the last budgeting cycle.

Commissioners want to contrast their spending process with that of state lawmakers, which primarily took place behind closed doors. The board wants to continue investing in infrastructure and public safety. Mayor Andrew Gillum says that could come in the form of social services.

The city of Tallahassee’s moratorium blocking new medical cannabis dispensaries ends this month. The city is poised to adopt new zoning rules for dispensaries. Leon County Commissioners approved zoning requirements Tuesday.
