Williams, Beshears Lead North Florida Lawmakers In Third Quarter Campaign Cash

Campaign finance reports for the third quarter of 2013 are in and two local candidates raked in big bucks for their upcoming reelection campaigns.

Tallahassee Democratic Representative Alan Williams may still be deciding whether to stay in the Florida House or run for a local seat, but he added another $10,000 to his war chest between July and the end of September.

Williams, who represents parts of Leon and Gadsden County, has about $40,000 on hand to spend during the 2014 election cycle. Two people have filed to run for his seat, but one says he’ll drop out if Williams runs for his final term in the House before being term-limited.

Meanwhile Republican Representative Halsey Beshears of Monticello raised the bulk of his nearly $60,000 of on-hand cash in the third quarter. Beshears represents the newly created district seven, which runs from Appalachicola to Perry.
