2/24 update:  According to Tallahassee Police Department investigator Scott Beck, preliminary autopsy results show Uhre's death was accidental. In an e-mail, Beck writes that Uhre apparently fell through a second-story window onto the first floor of the College Avenue building where his body was discovered last week. He is believed to be have been alone at the time of the accident. The building has no floor on the second level.

Police say a final cause-of-death determination will be made once toxicology results are returned from the lab. The investigation continues.

5:00 p.m. update:

Tallahassee police say they’ve found the body of a former Florida State University student missing for more than two weeks. Ryan Uhre was last seen alive downtown in the state capital on the night of February 2.

After police received additional security camera footage from the area around Uhre’s last known whereabouts, teams began to canvass the area Tuesday morning. They ultimately found his body on an upper floor of an abandoned building about two blocks from the Florida Capitol.

An autopsy and toxicology test are pending, but TPD spokesman David Northway says there’s no indication yet that Uhre was harmed by someone else.

“At this time we have no indication of foul play," Northway says. "But again, every crime scene is an evolving crime scene. Our forensic techs are taking evidence. As you can see, our forensic van is there. But at this very moment, we have no indication of foul play. But again, we will continue to work it as an open, active investigation and we will not stop until we determine what actually is the cause of death.”

A statement from FSU Vice President for Student Affairs Mary Coburn says the university feels “the profound loss of a life ending far too soon.” Rep. Richard Stark (D-Weston), for whom Uhre had been interning, says the student’s friends and family are in his prayers. Uhre’s co-workers in the House Democratic office where he worked describe him as enthusiastic and say he’d been pushing for his internship for more than a semester.
