Tallahassee Fire Chief Becomes Florida's First Female Fire Chief Of The Year
Tallahassee Fire Chief Cindy Dick is now the first female in Florida to be named Fire Chief of the Year.
Dick received the honor last week, when she went to the annual conference of the Florida Fire Chief’s Association. Dick says even more than becoming the first woman to receive the Fire Chief of the Year award, it was honor just to be nominated by her peers and colleagues.
“Really, this award, on a personal level, without regard to gender, was very touching for me," said Dick. Because to be selected from my peers, who are Fire Service Professionals, Fire Chiefs throughout the state, who have won this award previously, who are very well achieved in their own right. For them to have selected me, it’s just a very humbling experience.”
Dick received the award, partly because of her leadership and community service. She is one of less than a dozen women, who are Fire Chiefs in Florida.
