Tallahassee Aims to Help Human Service Programs

Tallahassee, FL – The City is using its buying power to give incentives to vendors. In order to receive a bidding preference on city contracts, they can donate their money to human service organizations. Since the Vendor preference program began last year, the city has raised about $350,000. City Commissioner, Alan Katz.

Say you and I both bid on a contract, and price is $100, and mine is $100. But you've made a donation and I have not- you would get the contract.'

However, if the bid is higher says Katz, you may not get the contract. The program is open to all social service agencies which are 501-3c agencies. For WFSU-FM, I'm Lynn Hatter.
