Streetlights could soon come to parts of unincorporated Leon County. County Commissioners meet Tuesday to discuss a proposed ordinance.
County officials will workshop a plan for an ordinance for installing street lights in unincorporated County roads. The new plan would do away with the current practice for getting street lights. Now, homeowner associations directly request lights from their utility providers. The workshop comes after a rise in requests for streetlights in unincorporated areas.
Officials estimate the initial cost of the project at $125,000, followed by an estimated $10,000 each year for operating costs.
